23rd General Assembly Meeting of EuroGeoSurveys

On October 3-4 the EuroGeoSurveys Autumn Meeting took place in Athens. The event consisted of the Executive Committee Meeting, General Assembly Meeting, Workshop of the Directors of the Geological Surveys as well as the Workshop of the Working Group Chairmen. During the meetings the most important topics referring to our activities like strategy, future work plan, participation to European and global events were discussed. US Geological Survey was represented by two invited guests: Dr Linda Gundersen - Chief Scientists for Geology and Dr George Coakley - Coordinator for Europe and Central Asia. USGS contributed to the meeting with its experience on the US Mineral Resources Programme right at the moment when European Commission is developing a proposal for EU political approach to raw material supply. The event was followed by the two days excursions including the visits to the nickel and aluminium deposits as well as archaeological site of Delphi.
