Official launch of the CO2GeoNet Association
After four years of EC support under the 6th Framework Programme, a scientific association has been launched to give a legal and durable status to the CO2GeoNet Network of Excellence on CO2 geological storage. This took place on 17.04.2008 in Venice, Italy. Five geological surveys – members of EuroGeoSurveys, are the founding fathers of this association. The Association is governed by the French law of 1st July 1901. The main objective is to provide the European scientific body on CO2 geological storage, durably engaged in enabling the safe and efficient deployment of the CO2 capture and storage technology (CCS) for mitigating climate change and ocean acidification. CO2GeoNet activities will encompass joint research, training, scientific advice, information and communication on CO2 geological storage.
