TAIEX workshop on sustainable use of mineral resources


This successful event, focusing on “Thematic strategy on sustainable use of natural resources and sustainable development indicators and best practices on minerals intelligence”, was held on 10-11.12.2007 in Ljubljana. It was organised under the terms of the Technical Assistance Information Exchange Unit of the European Commission, DG Enlargement (TAIEX) in cooperation with the Geological Survey of Slovenia (many, many tahnks!) and EuroGeoSurveys. The meeting was meant to directly support development of EU policy on mineral resources. Therefore active participation of the Commission officials – Hans Pietersen (DG ENTR), Werner Bosmans (DG ENV) was critical. Among other speakers there were representatives of 17 (!) Members and Partners of EuroGeoSurveys plus USGS and some other European Geological Surveys.
