The EC has appointed the new Members of the Marine Observation and data Expert Group (MODEG) of the Directorate General Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Another success story for geologists.

EuroGeoSurveys will continue to play a key role in the provision of expertise to the EC in the field of maritime policy. The EC has appointed the new Members of the Marine Observation and Data Expert Group (MODEG) of the Directorate General Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/maritimeforum/node/1451). Several of the experts appointed in a personal capacity also serve as key members of the EGS Expert Group on Marine Geology. On 12 October 2010 the Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms. Maria Damanaki, specifically referred to the work of the geological surveys (the EMODNET-Geology project) as an example of marine policy integration in her opening remarks at the EurOCEAN Conference.
