    Bełchatów, Poland

In connection with the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the announcement of an epidemic emergency throughout the country, we would like to inform you that the decision has been made to postpone the XI International Congress of Brown Coal Bełchatów. We will inform about the new date in a separate message.

The International Brown Coal Mining Congress is a regular event organized every two years. In 2020, the eleventh edition of the Congress will be celebrated. The organizers of the Congress are: 1) PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna Joint-stock company 2) PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna Oddział Kopalnia Węgla Brunatnego Bełchatów (Bełchatów Lignite Mine Division) 3) Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Górnictwa, Oddział w Bełchatowie (Board of the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians, Bełchatów Branch Office). The International Brown Coal Mining Congress is one of the largest events in Poland dedicated to the mining industry, in which scientists from many universities, research centers, institutes, company heads related to the mining and power industry, economists and representatives of banks and insurance companies take part. People of science, specialists and people directly related to the mining and energy industries take up issues important for the economy, related to the future of brown coal, which is a very important element stabilizing Poland's energy security. During the next year's meeting, we would like to draw attention to alternative directions for using this precious resource for the economy. We wish to focus on directions and technologies based on brown coal, such as obtaining semi-coke, low-temperature tar, industrial gases, liquid fuels or montan wax.
