    As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the GeoUtrecht event normally based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will be held as a virtual conference from 24th to 26th August. The conference offers its wide audience a the comprehensive conference program based on the 234 abstracts submitted, many from early career scientists. In case of suggestions, interested attendees can send their inputs on events (e.g. for your working groups). Also the exhibition hall is still available for the sponsors to join.

    Following the positive response in the process of abstract submission, authors are required to upload presentation materials in advance of the meeting as per deadlines provided, as a next step. The meeting will require registration for access to the MS-Teams online system to be used. However, no fee is charged to participate. Nevertheless, and in case you are not yet a member of one of the two non-profit sponsors DGGV and KNGMG, participants are encouraged to become a member as a courtesy. The organizers of the event will recover part of the costs. Although virtual, the conference will address and involve a large geoscience community for sharing several inputs and information which will lead the event to a great success.

    In this context, the GeoERA project will host a session aiming to give first-hand information on the role of raw materials for our society and the impact of the scientific projects for the worldwide community will be discussed at on Tuesday, 25 August GeoUtrecht2020 online-event. The Plenary Talk by Karen Hanghøj (8:30 am) will introduce some aspects of the political, technical and societal challenges tackled by the contributions. Date and time of the session is Tuesday, 25 August in Room 2.01 at 10:20am - 12:20pm; 3:20pm - 5:20pm and 5:50pm – 7:05 pm to discuss contributions to the solutions for an innovative sustainable approach and new tech-based methods.
